Jacob played and lettered for the Eagles in the fall of '15, '16 and '17 as both an offensive and defensive tackle. He played youth football with CVMFA and, although sometimes discouraged, Jacob dreamed of being part of the Varsity Eagles, and he believes that he was able to achieve this goal through dedication to improvement and lots of hard work.

After graduating from Cumberland Valley, Jacob was an offensive tackle for Johns Hopkins University where he also earned a Bacherlors (in 2022) and Masters (in 2023) degree both in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. Currently, Jacob is residing in the Baltimore area and will begin working in the biotechnology field with Illumina, a DNA sequencing company.

In 1996, Michael Whitehead began his 23 year career coaching football at Cumberland Valley. Coach Whitehead was an assistant coach from 1996 to 2012 during which time he was part of six District Championship teams and had the privilege of mentorship from Coach Tim Rimpfel.

As head coach from 2013 to 2019, Coach Whitehead’s record was 60-29. His teams qualified for District playoffs six out of seven years and made it to the championship game four times and earned one very memorable championship - a seven-overtime win against Central Dauphin in 2015.

Coach Whitehead took great pride in the CV program and gave all he had to his players to help them succeed both on the field and in the classroom.

Why do you feel he should be inducted into the CVFAA Hall of Fame? *

Charlie played and lettered for the Eagles in the fall of '15, ‘16, and ‘17 as a wide receiver, running back, tight end, safety, punter, and kicker. He was a leader and someone who always put his teammates first... a player who gave everything he had to the Eagles team, and to Cumberland Valley High School, every Friday night.

After graduating from CV, Charlie played five years at Penn State University... and can proudly say he is a Cotton Bowl and Rose Bowl Champion. Charlie graduated from Penn State in the summer of 2022 with a degree in Hospitality Management.

Currently, Charlie is back in the area helping his parents with their family business: The West Shore Farmers Market.

Born in 1940, Charlie Brown grew up in Highspire, PA and graduated from Steel High in 1958 where he was a stand-out football (#74) and baseball player. He graduated from Bloomsburg University in 1963 with degrees in Social Studies and English and completed graduate work at Millersville University in Psychology. Charlie is still married to his high school sweetheart, Charlotte Berner, (who he met in first grade) and has three children -- all Cumberland Valley graduates.

Mr. Brown began teaching Social Studies at CV Junior High in 1963 and then taught Psychology for the next seven years. His class was popular enough to move from three sections to ten.

Mr. Brown also coached seventh and eighth grade football and was the head ninth grade coach for ten years. As head line coach for the Class of 1969, he claims to be lucky enough to have coached the best offensive line in Cumberland Valley history.

In 1977 Charlie switched careers and began working for Reader's Digest, Inc. as a school fundraiser for 22 years.

In 2005 Charlie formed the 501© charity Kick In For Kids, which has helped over 3,000 families throughout the Cumberland Valley School District, distributing approximately $600,000 in assistance. Charlie served as President of Kick in for Kids until 2019 when he proudly passed the baton to Robert Crobak, another former Cumberland Valley coach and administrator.
